Gear is a class of items that are not weapons.
Although classed in Critical Ops, but not legitimately classed in Critical Strike Portable, gear typically refers to items such as the Frag Grenade, the Smoke Grenade and Kevlar & Helmet. This also includes the C4 and the MedKit, but are not actually classed.
In Critical Strike Portable, gear cannot be dropped at all and will only disappear if either used or killed. However, in Critical Ops, all gear but Kevlar & Helmet can be dropped.
